Change of plans. We want to take you to another place that you haven't been before. You know the Mac Store in SoHo by Prince and Greene? Let's meet at the store, then we will walk around the block for the restaurant.

Please confirm that you got my email.

Not guaranteed if it was user datagram protocol aka UDP. Tcp is cool like that. IPC (inner process channel) is I hear is even better and as fast as UDP, and guaranteed delivery. Sort of like the difference between UPS (United Piece of Shite) vs FeDex...

Oh you know what I mean.

people who amazed me

the dude who worked as a cashier downstairs at our company's cafetier turns out to be an amazing photographer. Can you imagine that? i am really intrigued. i was like, dude, what are you doing here! he take fabulous pictures. http://www.giovision.com/

the dude who sits beside me on the train reading a book quitely turns out to be a great phychiatrist.

the girl who served me drinks at a bar turned out to be an awesome surfer/trainer/club manager and is about open her own fitness studio.

what would I turn out to be? surprise me, Amy...lol

I did it

I rocked at rock climbing tonight. It was much harder than it looks like. the first time, i was thinking no way i can make it. the conversation between me and the coach was basically like this " i dnt think i can do it" "yes, you can do it". so after couple rounds of cheering  i reached the top. it was a great feeling, i waved at the receptionists, proundly. haha...so i did it again, and again, and become better and better. man, this might come off a bit egoiest, but yes, I am pround of myself. I am the shit, like stanley would say.

and i relized underneath the highheel, tight skirt and dress shirt, i am still that kid who was climbing the trees as passtime, racing in the fields, and rolling down the snow covered hills, the child running in the wild.

btw, I pissed off the coach totally at the end. guess i asked too many difficult questoins

Live Greener - easy ways to live greener and save energy

.) Turn the thermostat down by 2 degrees in the winter. Reduce CO2 emissions by 0.62%.

2.) Stay in town for the weekend. Drive 100 fewer miles per week and reduce CO2 emissions by 4.11%.

3.) Replace the incandescent lightbulbs in your house with compact florescent ones. These use less energy and last longer and cut down on CO2 emissions. It’s a win-win-win situation.

4.) Dry your clothes outside on a clothesline or inside on a rack instead of putting them in the dryer.

5.) Only turn lights on in the evening or early morning when the sun doesn’t come in through the windows. Turn lights off as you leave rooms.

6.) Going on vacation? Make sure the heat or A/C is turned down and the water heater is turned off before leaving.

7.) Use cold water when doing laundry whenever possible.

8.) Carpool next time you and your friends are going somewhere together.

9.) Unplug! Unplug power strips and appliances that you don’t use that often or only at certain times of the day (chargers, cordless tools, etc). Even though they may be turned off, the “standby” energy used is equal to that of a 75 watt lightbulb running continuously.

10.) Enable the "sleep mode" feature on your computer, allowing it to use less power during periods of inactivity. In Windows, the power management settings are found on your control panel. Mac users, look for energy saving settings under system preferences in the apple menu.

11.) Configure your computer to "hibernate" automatically after 30 minutes or so of inactivity. The "hibernate mode" turns the computer off in a way that doesn't require you to reload everything when you switch it back on. Allowing your computer to hibernate saves energy and is more time-efficient than shutting down and restarting your computer from scratch.

Water Conservation- humans can live up to a month without food, but no more than approximately 7 days without water. While there is a LOT of water on this planet, only 3% of it can be used as drinking water. Let’s do something now to ensure this lasts us!

12.) Shorten your showers to less than 10 minutes. Already doing it in less than 10 minutes? Make it 7.

hahaha..this will be hard for me...

13.) Turn off the water while you’re brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing your face.

14.) Leaky faucet or shower head? A dripping faucet can waste up to 2,000 gallons/7,600 liters of water a year. Check the plumbing in your house and repair the leaks as soon as possible.

15.) Ask your parents if they’d like to invest in low-flush toilets, shower heads and faucet aerators. You’ll save thousands of gallons of water each year and your parents’ water bill will be lower!

16.) Call your water utility and ask for a copy of their latest water quality report. Public water utilities regularly test the quality of the drinking water they provide to customers.

17.) Lawn and garden pesticides and fertilizers can pollute the water. Reduce your use of pesticides and fertilizers and look for safer alternatives to control weeds and bugs. For example, geraniums repel Japanese beetles; garlic and mint repel aphids; and marigolds repel whiteflies.

18.) Make the most of the water you use outdoors by never watering at the hottest times of the day or when it’s windy. Turnoff your sprinklers when it’s raining. On average, 50% - 70% of household water is used outdoors for watering lawns and gardens.

19.) Have a garden? Use mulch in it to help conserve water (the earth stays moister longer).

Pollution Prevention- We all know that we are supposed to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but what exactly does that mean? It’s not just putting your soda bottles out every week and using grocery bags as lunch bags. Here are some other ideas that are easy enough for you to do and encourage others to do as well.

20.) Reuse bags and containers: brown paper bags are great for wrapping packages. Wash out plastic containers and glass jars you buy food in and use them as Tupperware.

21.) Use old newspapers as wrapping paper and jazz it up with pretty ribbon or a bow. If you’re lucky you might get Sunday’s color comic section.

22.) One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Instead of throwing out old clothes and toys, donate them to a local shelter or a secondhand store like Goodwill or Salvation Army.

23.) Organize an in-home recycling center and teach your family how to use it. Have separate bins for glass, plastics, and newspaper/cardboard. Make a deal with your family that if they put their recyclables in the bins that you’ll take them to the curb.

24.) Be fancy! Replace the use of paper napkins at dinnertime with cloth napkins. You can wash these a couple of times a week, or whenever they are dirty. Use dish towels to wipe up messes instead of paper towels. These, too, will help cut down on the amount of garbage your household produces.

25.) If you’re having a party and want to use disposable plates and cups, skip the plastic and get paper ones. These break down easier in the environment and don’t deplete the ozone layer as much (although it’s better to nix the disposables and use washables!).

26.) Ask the dry cleaners if they will take back their wire hangers and use them again.

27.) Paper or plastic? Neither! When grocery shopping, take your own reusable canvas or cloth bags (or ask your parents to).

28.) Looking for a new car? Research the numerous companies who make hybrid cars. Some examples, Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, and Ford Escape.

It is blog action day today http://www.blogactionday.com/, let's all sound off! we do care about the mother earth and what we gonna leave it to be for our children and grandchildre

Talking about 敲钟

  sigh...同感

敲钟

理所应当的事情发生的太多,不过是时间线上摆好的铃铛,等着我到了那一站,敲上一下,表示到此一游。所以,我是时间线上的和尚。念着经,闭着眼,缓缓走开。

redcats

I am sick of this place.

I used to like my job, every job i held, well only had two jobs so far, it has never been just a job for me. I used to love what i was doing and I am proud of what I have done. Every site i put up, every line of code i wrote, they are like my babies to me, :P. I used to want to be the very best. but not anymore, not any more. It is just a job for  now.

I show up, meet ppl, bullshitting,  coffee, smoke, bs during smoke/coffee, writing some code, that's all i do.  It was not like that before, it used to be fun, exciting. the long hours we put there, the heated discussion about the best solution for a problem, the talk about new technologies coming up and how we could use it,  going to the user group meetings, tweaking every line of my code to make it better. it is just all lost somehow.  all the enthusiam, all the passion, they r all gone leaving me walking throught the office like a zombie. :(. Todaywhen i am interview a guy for a developer position, i just relize damn, i dn't even care what he is telling me.

The other day, we went to a farm opened by a chinese couple. the woman quitted her job in dupont and decided to grow organic and affordable vegetables. she said she is not trying to make any profit out of it, she just wanted to promote and provide healthier food to the chinese community here. i was like, man, here are the people who really trying to do sth and to make a difference. Today, there was a lady, friend of friend, she talked about her research in her field, chemistry or sth. honestly i dnt understand most of the words she was telling us, all the terms, and jargons, but i saw in her the previous me, the ambitious person, the one who loves so much she is doing.

It is really time for me to get the fuck out of this place. seriously, Amy, time to go!

The only thing i would miss are some of the people here. there are quite some cool people i got to know from redcats. I made some good friends, my best friends, Mimi, she has been a great source of inspiration, motivation and supporting to me. And i am happy that i came here, and got to know her, yamur, our source of natural craziness, and all the other sensational geeks.

I IPhone

I am loving it.

On thursday i was still laughing at people standing in the line waiting for the IPhone, they are nuts, I said. On Friday, i was passing by AT&T store couple times expecting to see a line. Nada in the morning, untill noon, there are people lining up, beach chair, umberella, kids running around, it looks more like  family picnic. A guy - an i iphone evangelist, said, come joining us. I thought, why not. so i become the number 15.

It was pretty fun actually, there was  a gay couple in front of me, with their macbooks, a black dude behind me, his boss gave him half day off in exchange of him securing the boss an iphone too. almost all the people owes mac(s) at home, I felt like i am in the wrong camp, the only thing i owned before from apple was the ipod. :P.  the AT&T sales ppl r phyched, dancing around, seriously, he was dancing, thinking about the big fat commission coming...lol...So 6 clock, gate opens, the first one who got iphone walked out,  a teenager, people applauded. he marched like a hero.

I got mine around 6:45. ran back home, tried to activate. The server was already dogged, i waited till 10 before i can start the activation process. yet it told me activation need more time(it said 6 minutes originally!), ranning out for drinks to celebrate...haha...checking my iphone every 3 minutes expecting the activation go through. well, i got it EVENTUALLY  the next day morning. and i fall in love with it instantly.

Love it
1. the browser. it is freaking amazing. not like usualy mobile handheld browser, this one load the sites exactly like the full-blow version on ur pc or mac, u can easily zoom in, zoom out, open new page, the only thing is it seems not caching the web pages, when you hit back button, it still takes time to reload the page.

2. the camera. the quality is top notch.

3. SMS client. very intuitive and very cute

4. Keyboard. It is quite error prone at the very beginning, too sensitive, but after a while, you get used to it. And themagifying glass helping u to position the cursor, very cute

5. Video/YouTube. it Rocks! crystal clear, man, i am very very impressed.

6. Phone quality is super good too. no dropped calls, lol...thinking abt cingular commercial

7. google map. it took couple seconds to load the map, yet, very useful. it is not a gps though, not showing where you are currently are.

8. Wi-fi. it is very smart, pick up any wireless network the minute you get close to one.

Not loving it so much

1. battery life. it ran out battery in abt 6 hrs if you constantly use it

2. Edge network is slow. u can take it when browsing, but if you want to watch a video, it is very bad

3. someone said it got hot and burned his ear...lol. it is true. iphone becomes heated up after a while

4. the screen got dirty/smudged very easily. i am going to wear a glove when use it...lol

5. No IM client. :(

Havent' used it
Mail client. havent' set it up yet.

Side Effect
1.ppl will stop you anytime and chat up especially these days. Min was playing with it and ppl were swarming up to talk. we were joking i am going to lend it to her so she can use it to pick up guys.

2. if you are constantly on the iphone, browsing, watching video, won't you miss out other part of life, the real life? like looking at the scene out of window when on a train, watching ppl/kids playing when in a park

Overall, iphone is amazing, mind-blowing, breath-taking and overwhelming. haha..it sets the bar for any hand-held device. the User Interface is so human and easy to grasp. all the touch, click, slide just making the experience funner and funner.

The IPhone

some pictures took by iphone

on another note, the dog licked my face and i got flu. :(.

June 25

my plant died

my plant died. after being with me for more than  5 years.

It was a gift from Yan when i first moved into the 21sth chestnut apt in 2002. then it moved to delaware with me and i took it to new york when coming here. It is a very low-maitenance plant, the only thing i need to do is water it from time to time and it just grows bigger and greener. never thought it would die, but it did, suddenly. maybe it was the water, maybe it was the hot summer, maybe it is just time to say goodbye
April 25

Thank you, my friends

2007 hasn't been easy for me. I went through some of my darkest time in my life, when the life doesn't make sense anymore, when someone makes me feel like shit, not worth a penny, when the blue sky, blooming flower no longer make my heart beat and put a smile on my face. It was dark and dooming. but there are my friends, my dear, encouraging friendes, who listened to me, who asked me to stand up, and who are there for me. Thank you and thank you so much for making me feel the love, hope and joy in the life, thank you for making me feel that i can't let myself lying in the mud anymore, thanks for giving me the guts and courage to fight and to live the life, thank you, my friends, you are the ones who make my life meaningful and make me the one i am being.

does'nt this sound like an oscar speech? lol
